Rangers reign ended by Pearse OgsThe Armagh Championship match between holders Crossmaglen Rangers and Pearse Ogs took place on Saturday 5th September 2009 at 7.00 pm. in the Athletic Grounds. This quarter-final match was won by Pearse Ogs by 0-7 to 0-4 and brought an end to Rangers 13 year reign as County Champions. This record is only matched by Ballina Stephenites of Mayo from 100 years ago when Gaelic Football was a very different game than it is today. To be part of this great team and club is to be part of history as it may never be equalled again- maybe not even in the next 100 years. Congratulations is due to all those involved in this historic team and club, which for some of the players goes back 20 years and more to underage teams. The dedication of the players and management is impossible to quantify on paper as only those involved and their families know what they have put in, given up and sarcrificed. We look forward to the future and more County titles coming to Cross and once again thank all those who have given everyone alot of good days and alot of great days out. |
